We watched a film, as far as I could tell,
Every frame was a living hell.
And so we fell like shadows down a well, a hard rain in a soft cell.
Lie-la-lie… la-lie…la-lie… lie-la-lie
The boy came to me, whispering low, hung his letter jacket over the window.
I fell in love with that bare bulb’s glow
While he broke everything everywhere I let him go.
Lie-la-lie… la-lie…la-lie… lie-la-lie… don’t die.
If I could surf the black tide, that’s drowning me from the inside.
I’d stagger away, with a streetwalker's pride.
But I’m on Rockaway Beach, floating with the hollow men.
Falling through the days again.
I have seen my King, in these broken hours, when all the holes unfold like flowers.
You can pray for peace from atop the tower,
But on the stairs there's nothing to pray for but power.
Neon traces the outline of a body on the floor,
And I can’t come, And I can’t go... home anymore…
On each pale page, I've left a bruise,
Because I'd given them everything but my blues.
You can bet your life, But you can't choose
You can't choose how to lose.
Lie-la-lie… la-lie…la-lie… lie-la-lie… don’t try.
If I could surf the black tide, that’s drowning me from the inside.
I’d stagger away, with a streetwalker's pride.
But I’m on Rockaway Beach, floating with the hollow men.
Falling through the days again.
I think that we’re dreaming…
I think that we’re all dreaming….
And when it’s time to wake up, time to wake up, time to wake up.
When it’s time to wake up, how will we know?
How will we know?
How will we know?
How little swan?
How? How?

There’s a light at the end of the tunnel, and it is death.
And I know that you won’t cry my name with your last breath.
You’ll let it go, let it go as though it's 1000 lifetimes ago.
Dancing through doorways to music I’ll never know.
Oh Diana, Diana the kids have forsaken us.
Oh Diana, Diana the kids do what the kids must.
Stay gold while we rust. Stay gold while we rot.
Stay gold while we forget what we have forgot.
I’m trying to leave the ‘90s behind me but they keep dragging me back.
Because I hear the chatter of angels when I don’t take my Prozac.
I can’t let it go, let it go as though it's a 1000 lifetimes ago.
Everyone changes, we’re strangers, but I just don’t.
Oh Diana, Diana the kids have forsaken us
Oh Diana, Diana the kids do what the kids must
Stay gold while we rust. Stay gold while we rot.
Stay gold while we forget what we have forgot.
On your finger, a frozen ember…
I only wanted a photo so I could remember.
I only wanted a photo so I could remember.
Under my bed I kept them all, I waited for the boys to call.
Under my bed I kept them all, I waited for the boys to call.
Under my bed I kept them all, I waited for the band to call.
Under my bed I kept them all, I waited for the boys to call.

You’re stoned in the capsule, alone. It's true.
Because God is asleep and dreaming that he is you.
Engines on and up the Voyager flew.
And Planet Earth is blue. Planet Earth is blue.
(Computers now have control of critical vehicle functions)
But you are not the comet, you are the crater.
The violet void in which swims the space invader.
Into the crypts and caves of sleeping saints,
While the hungry goths are chanting in the rain.
Sundown in a ghost town, with Jupiter rising.
Staggered by daggers, on the Killing Horizon.
The Shepherd is lost in the wild fields of night.
And you, kid, you are not alright.
I walked the black streets of doom searching for you.
Pressed against railings, staring down into
The purple pools where broken sparrows dive.
How many lies/lives does one have to live to survive?
Sundown in a ghost town, with Jupiter rising.
Staggered by daggers, on the Killing Horizon.
The Shepherd is lost in the wild fields of night.
And you, kid, you are not alright.
Because nowhere over the rainbow. No birds sing.
Because nowhere over the rainbow, nobody had nothing.
You think you're dancing, but are you there at all?
Or just dead light spinning in the mirror ball?
A sensor trembles down in ground control.
But they see nothing, no one, not a soul.

Too old to die young, too young to die slow.
To Avalon in rags I go.
Dancing, dancing. I go dancing, dancing, dancing.
Bathed by the blue beams.
Saved by the new dreams.
I was born again.
You could save our souls, but what of our ghost?
Still frozen in a teenage holocaust.
Dancing, dancing. I go dancing, dancing, dancing.
Bathed by the blue beams.
While I raved in my blue jeans.
I was born again.
Pauvre magicien, baladant tout seul avec ton baladeur.
Comment peux-tu danser encore à “Modern Love”?
Comment peux-tu danser encore à tout?
Where do you go when you go?
Tell my friends I’ll see them again,
A sad Pierrot on the banks of the Seine,
In the world that never was.
Tell my friends I’ll see them again,
A sad hello on the banks of the Seine,
In the world that never was.
I’ll be dreaming, dreaming, dreaming, dreaming. I’ll be dreaming.
